Gov Obaseki loses re-election ticket

Governor Godwin Obaseki has been disqualified from contesting in the APC primaries for the Edo state governorship election.
The chairman of the screening committee, Professor Jonathan Ayuba, announced on Friday, June 12, that Obaseki and two other aspirants were disqualified from the primaries, it was reported. According to Ayuba, “one of the reasons why the Edo governor was disqualified is that he presented a Higher School Certificate which was not in existence.”

An unconfirmed report has it that Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki has joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),after he had carefully weight his chances in the forth coming election.

The rumor which is all over the social media came after the APC disqualified him from participating in the Edo governorship election under its banner for allegedly failing to present his Senior School Leaving Certificate to its screening committee.
It was gathered that the governor is moving into the PDP with all the 18 Local Government Chairmen in Edo State together with 12 lawmakers in the State Assembly.

A source close to the government house disclosed that Obaseki revealed that an official statement announcing the governor’s defection would be issued tomorrow, Saturday.

In addition, Governors of the PDP are expected to visit him this weekend.
Earlier, the chairman of the APC in Edo State, Anselm Ojezua, had said despite Obaseki’s disqualification from the party, the governor would go-ahead to seek a second term under another party.
By tomorrow, we will meet and be in a position to make a proper statement on what the future holds for the party in Edo State.”
