The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Ogun State Command has dismantled several drug black spots in Abeokuta and arrested 12 suspects as part of a coordinated nationwide enforcement drive.
The operation, codenamed “Operation Restore Order,” was ordered by NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd). In Ogun State, officers targeted known hotspots including Mayas, Maiami, Panseke, Onion Market, Eleweran, MKO Stadium Kuto Park, and WAPCO in Lafenwa.
Command Public Relations Officer Haris Musa said the raids netted one woman and 11 men. He emphasised that the agency remains committed to its mandate of protecting communities and preventing illicit drug activities from taking root in the state.
“The coordinated operations are aimed at disrupting illicit drug activities, dismantling drug networks, and reclaiming public spaces being used for drug trafficking and abuse,” Musa stated.
The crackdown forms part of a broader national effort to disrupt drug trafficking networks and restore order in areas long associated with substance abuse and dealing.
