It was an event of celebration and funfair yesterday as the newly crowned Olu of Ilupeju Oke-Odo ,Oba Saheed Balogun received certificate of office.
The certificate was given to him by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs,Hon Afolabi Afuape in the presence of cheering Community people,and representatives of different group.
The throne had been vacant since the demise of former Olu of Ilupeju Oke-Odo,Oba Mufutau AKINDE who joined his ancestors after 10years on the throne.
The Royal Fathers were led by the respected Agura of GBAGURA,Oba Saburee Babajide Bakre, who enjoined the new Olu of Ilupeju Oke-Odo to unit the people, and carry the elders along in the leadership of the community.
Oba Saheed Balogun,in his acceptance speech said, he would continue from where his predecessor, Oba Akindele had stopped. He said,”I promise to continue from where he stopped with the cooperation of sons and daughters of Ilupeju Oke-Odo,GBAGURA Egbaland to bring our community to greater heights. The institution of Obaship no doubt,is very tasking and highly challenging.It requires visions, transformation, wisdom, forthrightness, social advancement as developmental projects needed often, as I move the Community forward.”
The crowned king appreciate the governor of OGUN State,Prince Dapo Abiodun MFR,for his support and regards for Royal institution and Community development, promised to work along with the local government and other agencies in achieving his objectives.
The event was graced by personalities in every works of life.Among them were,the popular fuji king,Alhaji Sefiu Alao, and many others.
