CDHR RALLY:
The Organized Committee for the Defence of Human Right, Abeokuta Central Unit staged a peaceful protest against the proposed increase in Electricity Tarrif by the Electricity Providers (IBEDC) in Particular and the DISCO.
The protest that started from Kuto roundabout of Abeokuta the state capital,with the presence of security Operatives and human rights groups went to the Ogun State House of Assembly, Okemosan.
The national secretary of CDHR,Comrade Yinka Folarin said the increament is not justified.He said,”most communities bought and maintain their electricity transformer by themselves,and they are proposing to Increase their charges even with epileptic power supply.This is pure injustice.”
The speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly,Hon Olakunle Oluomo said the increament is not justified.
Hon Oluomo said the residents of the State were reasonable people, who could afford to pay for the value of regular power supply to them if metered, promising that the Assembly would convey their yearnings to the National Assembly as a matter of urgency.
The protesters who spoke with our correspondence said that electricity consumers could no longer withstand the outrageous estimated billing system and epileptic power supply, with a demand for improved service delivery from the DISCOs to their consumers.
