The New Nigeria People’s Party in Ogun state have rejected the recently announced local government election result by the Ogun state Independent Electoral Commission.
The Chairman of the party,Comrade Olaposi Oginni said on a radio program yesterday in Abeokuta that the election is the worst election so far in the history of the state.He said,”the Osibodu led OGSIEC conducted a shady election with several manipulations in different local government.The low turnout gave them the opportunity to manipulate figures and came up with unjustified victory for the ruling party.”
He specifically mentioned Imala ward,in Abeokuta North local government of the state and some part of Ewekoro where several irregularities and election malpractices were recorded.
Comrade Oginni called on Nigerians and lovers of democracy to stand against APC manipulation and political slavery,as the party will seek Justice in the court of law.
Mainwhile,the electoral umpire have issued certificate of return to all APC candidates that participated in the election.
Chairman of the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC), Mr. Babatunde Osibodu, while issuing the Certificates in Abeokuta, charged them to be magnanimous and implement people-oriented projects and programmes.
Osibodu urged them to be diligent, listen to the people and work to protect their interest, saying, “even though you have won the contest and have been congratulated, the ideal time for such should be at the end of your tenure when the people will decide whether you merit the congratulations or not”.
