OGUN TRAINS BASIC EDUCATION SCHOOL MANAGERS ON MANAGEMENT PRACTICES DURING POST COVID-19

To further flatten the curve of Covid-19 in Ogun State, the Headteachers of Public Primary Schools and Principals of Public Junior Secondary Schools across the State have been trained on School Management practices in the Post Covid-19 period.

The training was flagged off at Lisabi Grammer School, Idi Aba, Abeokuta by Hon. Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Adelaja Arigbabu.

In his keynote address, Prof. Arigbabu expressed delight and considered the training to be important and timely for schools and communities to remain safe. He also informed the participants that covid-19 is real. Hence, the need to broaden the knowledge of school Managers and Stakeholders in Education to take preventive measures in order to reduce the spread of corona virus in our schools. He however reiterated that all public schools will continue to have their classes in phases as it was to avoid overcrowding and to help curtail the spread of the dreaded virus.

Hon. Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology who was meeting the Headteachers and Principals for the first time, described the teachers in the State as being hardworking, diligent and dedicated. He assured them of his unflinching support and urged them to continue to be diligent and dedicated to work.

In her goodwill message, the Hon. Commissioner for Health, Dr (Mrs) Tomi Coker, represented by the Director of Public Health and Input Manager on Covid-19, Ministry of Health, Ogun State, Dr. Festus Olukayode Soyinka, expressed appreciation and was delighted with the existence of collaborations of Ministry of Health with Ogun SUBEB and Ministry of Education in carrying out Public Health Education.

Dr. Coker reiterated that Covid-19 is still spreading and Ogun State is among active States and been praised at the National for extending screening to nooks and cranes of the State. She urged all participants to endeavor to get tested in order to know their status.

While delivering her goodwill address, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Primary and Secondary Education, Mrs. Ronke Soyombo appreciated Ogun SUBEB for ensuring prompt and adequate monitoring school compliance on Covid-19 Protocols. She admonished participants to take the training serious and make prompt report of any development in their schools.

UBEC representative and the Zonal Coordinator, South West Office, Abeokuta, Dr (Mrs.) Abidemi Oyedokun congratulated Ogun SUBEB for organizing series of virtual trainings on effect of Covid-19. She then admonished participants to ensure safety in schools.

Earlier, in his welcoming address, the Board Secretary, Ogun SUBEB, Mr. Wasiu Olalekan Kuye, appreciated the UBEC and Ogun State Government. In his word “this is another clear demonstration of the love that the present administration has for education as encapsulated in its vision to provide qualitative, functional and technology-driven education for the good people of Ogun State.”
