The National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools(NAPPS) has proposed to the Federal Government to assist teachers and school owners who are badly hit with financial implications of Covid-19.

The statement was made by the Chairman of the association Yomi Otubela, after forwarding the proposal to the Economic Sustainability Committee headed by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

He said that an approval has been granted to the proposal by the Federal Executive Council. This claim was not verified as at the time of filing this report,as the presidency or the office of the Vice President has not issued an official statement on this regard.

Otubela added,”We requested that the teacher’s salaries in private schools should be taken over by the government during the months of the lockdown.”

Though,he did not clerify the modality of how the fund will be distributed among the teachers since no data base is available, and many private schools are not registered.
